Seoul City Warriors got themselves an impressive victory tonight, coming as they enter a crucial period building up to their long-awaited first league game.
Final score: SCW 5 - 1 FC 미아
Playing on a beautiful pitch against the backdrop of a spring sunset, the Warriors were perhaps guilty of a slow start as they found their groove but still went ahead early on when Guillaume Pommet scored inside the first 15 minutes. The rest of the first half became quite scrappy as heavy tackles and breakdowns of play prevented any real rhythm from either side developing.
However, in the second half, the Warriors were much improved as they raised the tempo, controlled possession, and demonstrated the benefits of increasing levels of fitness. First to add to the goals was Younes El-Rajfi, as he volleyed in a wicked shot after 미아 failed to clear a corner. Kevin Conlan then smashed home a beautiful free-kick into the top corner, quickly followed by a tap-in after a Yacine Hadid cross. Yacine then turned goalscorer, curling delightfully into the far corner with the outside of his boot after a great run. After going five goals up, the Warriors were determined to finish the game with a clean sheet, but sadly conceded on the last play of the game after an excellent through ball and finish from the opposition striker.
Still, manager Jay Seo will be extremely pleased with the second-half display, especially as the Warriors now have their first league game on the horizon, scheduled for April 24.
