Seoul City Warriors lost out to GoldAnt FC tonight, eventually going down 6–2 after leading and being tied until late on in the game.
The burgeoning side were without several players due to injuries and the upcoming lunar new year holiday, but still began the game very brightly after learning some lessons from the previous defeat to Mad Dogs FC.
Manager Jay Seo wanted to see more control and discipline from Warriors after the frantic late stages of the previous game. This advice was heeded to the utmost degree in the first 75 minutes, as the Warriors, despite going a goal down, kept their shape and discipline, and eventually went ahead 2-1. The goals came courtesy of a snapshot from Younes El-Khafir, and a brilliant headed goal from Greg Walasek. However, by the latter stages of the game GoldAnt had pulled ahead 3–2 after two goals in rapid succession. Warriors, perhaps too eager to try and fight back and earn the result their earlier excellent play deserved, left themselves exposed at the back and fell to several clinical counterattacks.
Still, another gutsy display showing lots of potential for the coming months. Now begins a short break for the aforementioned lunar new year, and a chance for team management to analyze the games of 2022 so far, while continue planning for the upcoming fixtures.
